About Us

The magazinea caters to all those Indians who came to live in this orange country untying their knots. Indyana is a progressive and liberal state-of-the-art magazine that aims to provide some food for our thoughts, nourishing our intellect, fostering the long-lost ties
with our roots and reassuring our lost Indian self. It aims to bring back the lost charm of reading magazines in todays e-age where apple is a synonym for technology and advancement.
Indyana was born to bring together the Indian-ness of people on one platform. It’s a magazine in English which is the second language of India and one of the main languages of communication for the Indians both in India and here in The Netherlands.
The magazine hauls out the expressions and the feelings from all who are connected to India someway or the other. As the name implies Indyana is a way to look back to our own India with nostalgia yet it aims to instil the readers with the joy of creating. Creating a new India through exchange of thoughts, through visions, through hopes and fulfilling dreams. Indyana aims to go beyond the boundary of creativity and dream. Its purpose and objective is to reinstate the bonding between the country and the rest of the world through interaction between communities across the globe, through free play of ideas arising from the “Nederlanders” as well as Indians.

Mr Ram Lakhina

Ram Lakhina founded the Indo-Dutch Chamber of Commerce to promote business relations between India and the Netherlands. He was President of the Chamber from 1979 to 2003. In 1980, Ram Lakhina co-founded the Foundation for Critical Choices for India (FCCI) and served as its president from 1983 to 1991 and then again from 1994 to 2003.

Another organisation, with which Lakhina has been closely associated for a long period, is the Netherlands India Chamber of Commerce and Trade (NICCT) which came into being as a result of the merger between the India Trade Council and the Indo Dutch Chamber of Commerce and Trade. Lakhina is the Founder and has been the Executive President since its establishment in 2003 up to April 2010. He then served as the Chairman until 2015. He is now the Chairman Emeritus.

Mr. Jasbir Singh

Mr. Singh knows what it is like to move to a foreign country. In 1972, he arrived in the Netherlands from India. A different culture, he didn’t know the language and knew no one. Today, Mr. Singh has over 20 years’ experience in legal practice and holds a specialisation in immigration law. For Mr Singh, insight into personal character and a thorough knowledge of the law is what it is all about: “You can best help someone if you understand what motivates him. You can take full advantage of all possibilities only if you know what someone truly thinks.”

The Indian community is one of the largest expat communities in the Netherlands. As India is one of the world’s strongest emerging economies, an increasing number of Dutch entrepreneurs are discovering that the country can be a rewarding trading partner. Although Mr. Singh has lived in the Netherlands since 1972, his ties with his mother country are still very strong. He is recognised as a leading figure within the Dutch Indian community and maintains close contacts with the subcontinent and authoritative Indian parties. This makes Mr. Singh the right contact person for anyone who aspires to develop business relations with India, a role that he performs with the same passion and commitment as his work as a lawyer.
